On December 7, the National Theatre announced the sad news that renowned performing artist and national first-class actor Li Fa Zeng passed away at the age of 82 on December 6, 2023, at 5:52 PM in Beijing.

Li Fa Zeng took on the role of Zhuge Liang in the 1985 TV series "Creation of the Gods," the first portrayal of the character on screen, still resonating with audiences today. His performances, especially the scenes of mourning for Zhou Yu and his final moments, are considered exemplary in the art of acting.

For this iconic role, he received the Outstanding Male Lead Award at the 6th National Excellent TV Drama Awards and topped the list of the first National Top Ten TV Actors.

Born in 1941 in Suning, Hebei, Li Fa Zeng graduated from the Central Academy of Drama's Acting Department in 1964. His career spanned various performing arts, leaving behind a legacy of diverse and memorable roles.

In the years that followed, Li Fa Zeng played significant roles in several major film and TV productions, such as Du Yuming in "After the Decisive Battle," Zhang Zhizhong in "Chongqing Negotiations," and Tong Linge in "The July 7th Incident." His outstanding skills earned him a special government allowance from the State Council.

As the former director of the Central Experimental Theatre Arts Center, Li Fa Zeng contributed significantly to the theater by discovering, introducing, and nurturing numerous outstanding young actors.

Li Fa Zeng's marriage with his wife, Zhao Minfen, renowned for portraying the Empress Dowager in "Creation of the Gods," lasted for 60 years, making them an exemplary and enduring couple.
