"Captain Marvel 2" Wraps Up with $200 Million at the Box Office, Possibly Marvel's Worst

After a surprisingly low opening of $46.1 million in November, "Captain Marvel 2" concluded its eight-week run as the lowest-grossing film in the MCU.

Disney ceased predictions for the film's box office last month, announcing a gradual decline. (As of December 3rd, the film grossed $80 million in North America and $197 million globally).

According to Exhibitor Relations, "Captain Marvel 2" earned $84.5 million domestically, $121.3 million internationally, and a global total of $205.8 million, officially marking the end of its box office run.

This performance marks Disney's Marvel Studios' worst, almost matching DC's "Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn."

Estimates suggest "Captain Marvel 2" had a production budget exceeding $220 million, a disappointing feat for any franchise film, especially a sequel to a movie that grossed $1.12 billion worldwide in 2019.
