Downey: Underrated Acting in Superhero Films Due to Genre

According to IGN, Robert Downey Jr. recently revealed in a show that he believes his "best performance" was as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it was somewhat overlooked due to the superhero genre.
"In the Marvel Universe, I think I delivered some of the best performances of my career. However, due to the nature of the film genre, it seems to have been somewhat overshadowed."
"After breaking free from Marvel's cradle, I found myself exposed... I challenged myself, removed the safety net from under me. Everything I relied on went against my understanding of confidence and security, and, oh my, they vanished instantly. But it made me more humble and willing to learn."
Downey also mentioned the 2020 film "Creation of the Gods," acknowledging it as the lowest-rated movie in his career, considering it a "wake-up call."
