Recently, the People's Court of Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, disclosed a case involving high-speed rail station employees seeking quick gains by exploiting their positions. They illicitly accessed and sold private travel details of celebrities, resulting in multiple convictions.
According to Sina Entertainment, starting from January 2019, railway station customer service employee Chen and others leveraged their positions to access and market personal information like travel times, train numbers, and seat assignments for "celebrities," ultimately accumulating around $190,000 in profits.
The court convicted Chen and others of infringing upon citizens' personal information and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 9 months to 3 years and 8 months, along with fines. Following the verdict of the first trial, Chen and others appealed. However, the appeal was ultimately rejected, upholding the original ruling.
