The movie "A Journey of Benevolence," produced by Cao Baoping and directed by Liu Gayin, is currently in theaters. On September 11th, director Liu Gayin and actors Hu Ge and Gan Yunchen held a roadshow at the Lumiere Cinema in Chengdu (Raffles City Store), interacting with the audience.
Despite the film's less than ideal box office performance, Hu Ge, during his promotion of the new movie in Shanghai, said, "We also need box office, and we hope that more people can appreciate this work that reflects the essence of Chinese cinema. If you love art, please support it."
Regarding the box office controversy, Hu Ge responded during the roadshow in Chengdu, saying, "We mention that films need box office, but our need for box office may be different from other films. If we were to compare this film to 'Creation of the Gods' (the character in the film), we simply hope to convey more warmth and help more people, just like 'Creation of the Gods' in the movie."
The movie "A Journey of Benevolence" previously won the Best Director and Best Actor awards in the main competition unit of the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival. It tells the story of the down-and-out screenwriter Wen Shan (played by Hu Ge), who starts writing elegies for people by chance.
