Meitong Shares Old Photos from "Red Lovers" and Happy Times with Leslie Cheung

The movie "Red Lovers" was re-released on September 12th, and the lead actress, Meitong, has shared a set of old photos taken 25 years ago. In these photos, a young Meitong displayed her deep and elegant features, exuding a youthful charm. She wrote a lengthy post, reminiscing about her experiences working with the late Leslie Cheung: "Thinking back to that winter in Shanghai 25 years ago, it was filled with joy. I apologize that even though we were filming a romantic and tragic movie, working with Leslie Cheung made you so happy that you felt like you were flying."

Reflecting on the past, Meitong praised her younger self, saying, "You were amazing back then!" She also expressed her sentiments about her current self, saying, "Nowadays, I also want to be as brave, diligent, and sincere as you were back then, always maintaining that sense of curiosity..."

"Red Lovers" first premiered in 1998 and garnered five nominations and one major award at the Chinese Golden Rooster Awards that year. It also received the Jury Award at the Cairo International Film Festival. The film is set against the backdrop of 1930s Shanghai and portrays the struggles of communist party members, represented by Jin (played by Leslie Cheung) and Qiu (played by Meitong), in their quest for the birth of New China. They pursued their beliefs, held great love in their hearts, and demonstrated trust and sacrifice to create their own era of romance.
