Netflix confirms the launch of the animated version of "Stranger Things" or will become a series universe
2023-04-11
"Deadline" news. The Stranger Things universe is expanding, and an as-yet-untitled Stranger Things animated series developed by executive producer Eric Robles has been greenlit by Netflix. It's not yet known what story the animated series will focus on.
"Stranger Things" series directors Matt Duffy and Ross Duffy said in a statement Monday: "We've always wanted to do an animated version of Stranger Things, like the Saturday mornings we grew up loving. It's amazing to see this dream come to life just like the cartoons on the set." "We're absolutely blown away by the idea of Eric Robles and his team - the script and artwork are incredible and we can't wait I really want to share more with you, so let the adventure continue!"
As Deadline reported last July, the Duffy brothers formed Upside Down Pictures and are developing several Stranger Things-related projects, including a stage play and a live-action spinoff. In addition, there are plans for series adaptations of Death Note and Stephen King's The Talisman.
