Netflix Plans Another Price Hike, Starting Possibly in North America

According to gamesradar reports, Netflix is planning to raise its prices again following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike. As per The Wall Street Journal, Netflix is in discussions to increase the prices of its ad-free packages in multiple markets worldwide, with North America, including the United States and Canada, likely being the starting point. After cracking down on account sharing, Netflix canceled one of its ad-free tiers in July of this year: the Basic plan ($9.99 per month/£6.99). Currently, there are three tiers still available: the Standard plan with ads, priced at $6.99 per month/£4.99, allowing users to watch the ad-supported Netflix library; the Standard plan currently charges $15.49 per month/£10.99; and the Premium plan at $19.99 per month/£15.99, enabling 4K and Ultra HD streaming on four devices. On the other hand, Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN are also raising their prices, with Disney Plus being the latest streaming service to combat account sharing. Prime Video is adjusting its prices too, adding "limited ads" for Amazon Prime subscribers, with the new ad-free tier pricing increasing by $2.99.
