Singer CoCo Lee Dies by Suicide Due to Depression, Sister Li Silin Mourns on Weibo

With deep sadness, we share the heartbreaking news that CoCo had been battling depression for several years. Unfortunately, her condition worsened recently, leading to her suicide at home on July 2nd. She remained in a coma after being rushed to the hospital, and despite the efforts of the medical team, she couldn't be revived, passing away on July 5th.

2023 was supposed to mark CoCo's 30th anniversary since her debut. Throughout the past 29 years, she not only brought us endless joy and surprises with her powerful singing and energetic performances but also worked tirelessly to open new doors for Chinese singers in the international music industry. We are proud of her accomplishments.

As CoCo's family, we are grateful and honored to have such an outstanding and remarkable sister. We thank the heavens for blessing us with such a kind-hearted angel. We hope she has found a happier place where she no longer suffers from depression. We believe that fate will provide her with the best arrangement. Our greatest responsibility now is to take good care of our elderly mother. We ask everyone to pray for her and give us space and time to heal our pain.
