Soda Green's Wu Qingfeng Criticizes Smartphone Wave at Concerts: Can Never Concur

On the evening of September 25th, Soda Green's lead singer, Wu Qingfeng, took to Weibo to have a "chat" with everyone. He began by explaining the recent subpar performances due to a cold that left him voiceless. In addition to apologizing to his fans, he emphasized that catching a cold is just an occasional occurrence and should not be associated with a "too busy schedule," stating that he's in good health.

Then, Wu Qingfeng changed the topic, expressing his recent observations at concerts, where he noticed the audience all around him constantly using their smartphones for recording, taking selfies, flashing lights, and even accidentally turning on their flashlights—a phenomenon he referred to as the "smartphone wave." These disruptions kept interrupting his mood and made him lament, as they affected his experience performing on stage.

Wu Qingfeng pointed out that both his solo shows and Soda Green's performances strictly prohibit photography and recording unless the performers allow it. He stressed that even if someone buys a ticket, it doesn't grant them the right to capture or livestream the event without permission.

He stated, "The modern mindset of casually capturing moments anywhere and anytime without others' consent is something I can never concur with. If you think that attending a show without the ability to document it isn't worth the ticket price, then perhaps it's best not to attend. There's no need to force others to change."

Wu Qingfeng also revealed that seeing a sea of smartphones in the audience triggers his social anxiety. He remarked, "If one day I see all of you put down your phones, maybe I'll sing one more song! If possible, I hope you can fully enjoy the live performance before your eyes, allowing our eyes to communicate without the barrier of screens."
