According to reports on July 8, South Korean soprano Lee Sang-eun died mysteriously in a restroom at the age of 46. Lee Sang-eun performed at the Cultural and Arts Center in Samrye-dong, Gimcheon City on July 6, and it was around 8:23 PM when she was found collapsed in the women's restroom on the third floor. After being alerted, the staff called for help and she was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately passed away.

It is reported that Lee Sang-eun was invited to attend a concert in Gimcheon City, South Korea, scheduled to start at 7:30 PM. The audience was waiting for her to take the stage, but she didn't appear, leading the staff to search for her in the restroom.

Currently, the cause of Lee Sang-eun's death is unknown, and the police are questioning the relevant staff members.

According to sources related to the performance, Lee Sang-eun had dinner with everyone that evening and rehearsed before the show, everything seemed normal. Based on a hand-drawn image from the media, Lee Sang-eun was found collapsed next to the toilet.

Information shows that Lee Sang-eun graduated from the Seoul National University College of Music and pursued further studies at the Mannes School of Music in New York, where she obtained a master's degree. She also studied at the Manhattan School of Music. She was a seasoned South Korean soprano singer.

Lee Sang-eun's main market was in European and Asian opera houses, with notable works including 'The Magic Flute,' 'The Queen of the Night,' 'Madame Butterfly,' and others. She had performed in Hong Kong, China and returned to South Korea for performances since 2019.

The piece performed by Lee Sang-eun that day was 'Carmenaburana,' a large-scale musical dance ensemble with a medieval theme.
