"Insights into 'Shazam 2' Post-Credit Scenes: Not My Call, No Impact on the New Universe"

Hollywood superhero blockbusters often include post-credit scenes to set the stage for the next installment. However, DC's film "Shazam 2" seems to fall into the category where such scenes don't significantly impact the storyline. Recently, James Gunn, the newly appointed head of DC, discussed the post-credit scenes of "Shazam 2," expressing uncertainty about the reasons behind these specific characters and scenarios.

"Shazam 2" features two post-credit scenes. The first involves Emily Harkness and John Icnamos attempting to recruit Billy for the Justice Society, but Shazam misunderstands it as an invitation to the Justice League. The second hints at Dr. Sivana and the Caterpillar from the previous installment.

When responding to fan queries on social media, director Gunn stated, "It wasn't my decision, and it wasn't my creation—although these scenes appeared shortly after I joined DC. While I find it intriguing, I don't understand why these characters were woven into the narrative."

Gunn had previously stated that the new DC universe would kick off with "Suicide Squad" and "Superman: Legacy," marking the studio's foray into animation and live-action films. While some actors may reprise their roles from previous DC projects, the previous stories have minimal connection to the new universe in the context of the fresh studio and universe setup.

The inaugural film of the new DC universe, "Superman: Legacy," is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, starring David Corlensway and Rachel Brosna.
