Director Emphasizes the Importance of Cultural Literacy for Actors: Actors as Scholars

Sun Hao expressed that actors, as the pinnacle of the industry, should possess a higher cultural literacy. Only by thoroughly understanding the script can they better express themselves. He considers actors to be scholars who should approach scripts as if they were reading articles, striving to comprehend their intended message in order to deliver better performances within their roles. 

Regarding actors referred to as 'desperate illiterates,' Sun Hao stated that they should be excluded and eliminated. Insufficient cultural literacy hampers the understanding of scripts and characters, leading to the occurrence of lower-level errors in performances. Therefore, actors should continually enhance their cultural literacy through extensive reading and learning to better showcase their acting skills.
