奈飞公司周二宣布，将于今年晚些时候关闭DVD租赁业务，该公司最初靠这项业务起家，但现在已转型为流媒体视频巨头，而其当年的竞争对手百视达（Blockbuster）早已破产。
奈飞高管当地时间周二下午宣布，该公司将在9月29日寄出25年来的最后一个红色DVD信封。过去10年，这项业务的收入已从2013年的9亿多美元下降到去年的不到1.5亿美元。
奈飞联席CEO泰德·萨兰多斯（Ted Sarandos）在一篇题为“奈飞DVD -最终季”的博客文章中说：“我们的目标一直是为我们的会员提供最好的服务，但随着业务的不断萎缩，这将变得越来越困难。”
