Proud Screenwriter: Script for 'The Last of Us' Season 2 Premiere Completed Before Strike

Producer Craig Mazin shared the latest news about the second season of 'The Last of Us'. During an interview with Deadline, he mentioned that the script for the first episode had been written and submitted before the strike began this year.

"We've actually come a long way, and we've done well," Mazin said. "We already know the entire season's storyline, and I received the script before the deadline and submitted the first episode."

While the exact airing date for Season 2 of 'The Last of Us' is still unknown, Mazin informed the reporters that despite the strike by the writers and actors earlier this week, there is a possibility it will air as scheduled.

However, he also stated, "If the strike continues for a longer period, we will inevitably have to postpone, which would hurt us, hurt the audience, hurt HBO." "All of us, everyone, wants to get back to work, and I believe everyone wants to resolve this issue. So, let's pray."

The first season of 'The Last of Us' received 24 nominations at the 75th Emmy Awards. The series achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, becoming one of HBO's most-watched TV shows of all time.

Mazin and Druckmann also confirmed their intention to produce a third season, suggesting that the second season would not be able to cover all the content from 'The Last of Us Part II,' released on PS4 in 2020.
