Xin Zhilei: No One Believed I Really Wrapped Up "Blooming Flowers"

"Blooming Flowers" - Wong Kar-wai's debut TV series, a must-watch for the audience. Xin Zhilei, with no hesitation, joined when invited.

She recalls the first day of shooting, walking all night with Hu Ge on Huanghe Road. They didn't know why they walked or where to go. "The scene used only a little footage later, but that process was crucial. The director wanted to see the feeling of two people walking together."

After watching, Wong Kar-wai decided to send Xin Zhilei to dance classes. In the two years before filming "Blooming Flowers," she learned various dances like Latin and tango, almost wearing out her feet.

Until the end, Wong Kar-wai told her she didn't need to attend classes anymore; Xin Zhilei knew she was ready, and the exciting performance was about to begin.

However, shooting was not smooth; the wrap-up process happened four times. The first wrap-up had a ceremony with flowers and cake, but a few days later, she got a call saying, "Come back once." In the end, no one believed she was really going to wrap up, feeling like she would be filming forever.

Wong Kar-wai is known for being strict with NG takes; Xin Zhilei rarely passed a scene in one go. If it didn't meet the standard, Wong Kar-wai would shoot repeatedly until satisfied.

Once, Xin Zhilei passed a scene in one take, surprised, she asked the director why. Wong Kar-wai calmly replied, "See, I can shoot fast too."
