British Actor Claims AI Stole His Voice: "I Never Uttered a Word"

Actor Stephen Flay revealed that an artificial intelligence program pilfered his voice from the audiobooks of "Harry Potter" and repurposed it without his consent.
The application of artificial intelligence is a hot topic across industries, particularly in entertainment, where discussions often revolve around AI's potential. This means production teams can create television shows and films without the need for live actors or scriptwriters.
Recently, Stephen Flay disclosed during a speech that his voice, which he had narrated for the "Harry Potter" audiobooks, was used without his permission.
Flay played a segment of "narration he did for a historical documentary," vehemently asserting that he had never been involved.
"I never uttered a word – that was a machine. Yes, it astonished me that they used the audio I recorded for the 'Harry Potter' audiobooks and repurposed it for new narration."
"This AI is incredibly versatile, adjusting word choice based on the meaning of each sentence. Thus, it can have me read any content," Flay explained. "All of this happened without my knowledge and without my consent."
Flay pointed out that, for now, it's limited to audio, but it may not be long before hyper-realistic AI videos emerge.
