After Paul Walker's passing during the filming of 'Furious 7,' the 'Fast & Furious' franchise was forever changed, to the extent that director James Wan considered permanently closing the film.

In an interview with THR, Wan looks back on Paul Walker's death and the efforts made to complete the rest of the film.

'This was definitely the most challenging movie of my career. Since then, I've done technically challenging films, but 'Furious 7' was impacted on many different levels, especially emotionally,' Wan says. 'When Paul Walker passed away, we thought, should we forever give up on this film? But we collectively believed that this movie needed to be Paul's legacy, so we wiped away our tears and sat together in the editing room, thinking, 'Okay, how do we do this?''

'Fortunately, we had already filmed a portion with Paul, like his final action scenes, but there were still many parts in the film that required Paul. Before Paul's passing, we had only shot about half of the content, and then we worked with visual effects companies to salvage what we had.'

'The most challenging part of the movie was editing the ending, bidding farewell to Paul. It was very tearful. It's hard not to cry when you see the ending we pieced together.'
