According to IGN, a Disney executive stated that the company is committed to revitalizing the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film series.

Sean Bailey, the President of Disney's film production company, mentioned in an interview with The New York Times that rebooting 'Pirates of the Caribbean' is their top priority. In addition, the company is also working on live-action adaptations of many classic animations, with the latest one being 'The Little Mermaid'.

Bailey said, 'We believe we have a very good, exciting story that pays homage to the previous films but also has some new stories to tell.' However, when it comes to Johnny Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow and helming the Black Pearl once again, he stated that it is 'currently uncertain'.

Last year, there were reports that Depp was not willing to continue with 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. The actor was involved in a defamation lawsuit brought by his ex-wife, Amber Heard, who sought $100 million in damages. However, Depp ultimately won the case. During the trial, Depp admitted that Disney removed him from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' set just six days after Heard accused him of domestic violence. He even stated, 'There is nothing in the world' that would make him portray Jack Sparrow again for Disney.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who has been a long-time producer of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film series, mentioned that Depp did not participate in the filming of the sixth movie and its sequels, but whether he will exit the series is still uncertain. He stated at the time, 'The future is yet to be decided'.
