Not long ago, director Guo Fan revealed at the 2023 Chengdu World Science Fiction Conference's inaugural Industry Development Summit that "The Wandering Earth 3" is currently in the pre-production phase. However, in a recent interview, when asked whether he would continue to expand the "Wandering Earth" series, he responded without hesitation, "No, no! Completing the third installment is sufficient!" He waved his hand and firmly stated, "Considering my physical stamina, I probably can't endure... I won't be filming a fourth part."
Regarding the progress of "The Wandering Earth 3," Guo Fan disclosed, "The story's outline is mostly finalized, and we plan to complete the script within the next year as quickly as possible." As for plans after finishing "The Wandering Earth 3," Guo Fan said, "I'm uncertain, we'll see later. We'll think about whether there are other themes, but for now, let's focus on completing the third installment."
