Jason Momoa Talks First Audition for a Superhero: Not Aquaman but Batman?

In a recent interview with Fandango, Jason Momoa, known for portraying Aquaman in DC, revealed his first-ever superhero audition. Surprisingly, the audition was for Batman, not Aquaman.

He recounted how he politely attended the audition and, upon hearing he wouldn't be Bruce Wayne, was surprised to be invited back for the role of Aquaman.

"I initially thought I would play War God," admitted Momoa. "Because I got a call to audition for Batman. I almost didn't go. I thought, 'This is ridiculous. It can't be me. Why audition for Batman?' But it turned out to be a routine audition." Momoa said he later received a call confirming a role but thought it would be for Creation of the Gods. "I thought, 'I'm definitely playing a villain.' After all, not many can go toe-to-toe with Superman and Batman, right?" he chuckled.

"Then, I was called into the office, like, 'Um... do you know who you're playing?' I said, 'Yes, War God, of course. He's the only one who can rival Batman and Superman,'" Momoa recalled. "He said, 'What? War God? No, he's not in this universe.' I was like, 'What? Who am I supposed to play then?' Man, I really wish I had recorded it because he told me, Aquaman. I thought, 'What are you talking about?'"

"So, War God... I used to collect comics, not anymore, but he has always been my favorite character," clarified Momoa. He clarified that he didn't portray War God in the new DC Universe, "but if they called me to audition, I would definitely go." (Source: Comicbook)
