2023-08-01
As reported by Hollywood Watch, Kevin Spacey, who was recently acquitted of sexual assault charges in the UK, is set to make a comeback in the film industry. According to THR's exclusive report, he will lend his voice (but not his appearance) to the independent British thriller 'Control', which is planned for release in the UK at the end of this year.
The film was finalized by TriCoast, the film's distributor, in the second half of last year, even before the conclusion of Spacey's London trial. The cast includes Laurie Metcalf, Mark Hampton, and others, with Gene Fallaize ('Welcome to Purgatory') directing. The story revolves around a secret affair between the British Home Secretary (portrayed by Metcalf) and the Prime Minister of the UK (portrayed by Hampton). After the affair is discovered, the Home Secretary receives a mysterious message from a man played by Spacey, who knows her secret and seeks revenge. He plots to remotely control her fully autonomous vehicle, turning it into a deadly weapon that wreaks havoc on the streets of London.
TriCoast expressed that 'Control' has garnered significant interest from buyers in both the UK and the US. They praised the film as a masterpiece with an excellent script, director, and outstanding performance by Kevin Spacey.
