U.S. Research: Over 40% of Gen Z Claims Excessive Use of Romantic Content, Especially in Heterosexual Relationships

According to IGN reports, today's young people and teenagers are gradually steering away from media filled with sensitive content. The latest study reveals that nearly half of Gen Z viewers desire a reduction in the amount of sensitive content on their screens.

A recent report from the University of California, Los Angeles compiled data from 1,500 Gen Z members. Among them, 51.5% of young individuals (aged 10 to 24) wish to see more focus on friendship and platonic relationships, rather than emphasizing romantic relationships, especially those with sensitive emotions.

What's intriguing is that 47.5% of teenagers stated that most TV shows and movies don't require an excess of sensitive content, while 44.3% believe that these sensitive romantic plots are overused, particularly those involving heterosexual relationships.

This reflects a prevailing sense of loneliness among the younger generation and a decrease in their "romantic experiences" compared to their predecessors at the same age. However, most current programs fail to truly mirror this trend. "While teenagers do indeed want a reduction in sensitive content in TV and movies, the real essence of the survey is that they aspire to see a more diverse range of interpersonal relationships in the media they consume."
