Toshio Suzuki, the producer of Studio Ghibli, previously announced that there will be no trailers, posters, or any other promotional materials released prior to the premiere of Hayao Miyazaki's new film, 'How Do You Want to Live?'. The movie will directly debut in Japanese theaters on July 17.

Suzuki also discussed the reasons behind this marketing strategy.

The reason is simple: it's unnecessary. Suzuki stated that people will come to watch this film regardless, so there is no need for traditional advertising like in the past.

Suzuki also expressed that this non-promotional approach is beneficial for the film because many other movies reveal the entire story in two or three trailers. Audiences go to the cinema just to confirm what they already know, and Suzuki doesn't see any significance in that.

'How Do You Want to Live?' has only had one promotional material so far, a poster released at the end of last year. Inspired by Genzaburo Yoshino's novel of the same name, the film follows the 15-year-old protagonist, Kogame, who explores topics such as friendship, wealth disparity, discrimination, bullying, the individual and society, and courage. Through these themes, the movie aims to illuminate the value of being human.
