"Controversy Surrounding 'News Queen' Finale? Director Responds to Accusations of Zhang Jiayan's Dark Turn"

According to reports from Sina Entertainment, director Chung Shu-ka of "News Queen" has addressed the controversy surrounding the perceived dark transformation of character Zhang Jiayan. She mentioned that the brief past romance with George, the reunion with Tang Zhiyao, and the so-called "betrayal" by Sha Niu Rong are all pivotal turning points in the story. Chung also revealed that she herself faced consequences: "After Jiayan takes on the position of 'Man Sister,' she realizes she's merely trapped in that red room in a different way."
Recently, the highly acclaimed TVB series "News Queen" concluded with a finale that left many viewers dissatisfied. With some characters leaving SNK, Mrs. Fang introduced a new character, Ge Zhao Hua (portrayed by Raymond Wong). Unfortunately, Sheren Tang's screen time amounted to less than 10 minutes. This narrative choice steered the originally news-focused series off-course, giving the finale a rushed and hasty feel. Currently, the series holds a rating of 7.9 on Douban.
