James Guan, the current head of DCU, discussed a series of recent developments, including "The Batman 2" and "Joker 2." He explained why Robert Pattinson's portrayal of Batman won't be part of his latest DCU.

It's explicitly stated that "Batman 2" will still be released by Warner Bros. in DCU's "Gods and Monsters," but it will be in a DC "alternate universe," separate from Guan's films like "Superman: Legacy."

Guan Explains Why

"This wasn't allowed," he responded. "It's Matt's (The new Batman director) choice, and we respect that."

Guan previously explained, "Matt is working on 'The New Batman 2,' considering it a Batman crime legend, including the 'Penguin' TV series." "It's his own thing, and he's working hard. He showed us some fantastic stuff a few days ago. So our plan is to let this situation continue."

Guan also revealed that Matt's "The New Batman" will be a trilogy, with "Batman 2" currently set to be released on October 3, 2025. For this, Guan also provided the latest updates on the development of "The New Batman 2," saying he's heard some things but hasn't seen the script yet.

When answering another fan's question, Guan mentioned that director Todd Phillips "was already full-on with 'Joker 2' when we joined."

Guan Explains Why

"I've seen it, taken notes, but 'Joker 2' is mainly a collaboration with Warner Bros, that's where it began," he added. "We've been involved in all the live-action progress." (Source: IGN)
